
Killer Bees Add Forward Andrew Schembri to Roster

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that forward Andrew Schembri has signed with the team for the 2009-10 season.
The 26-year-old Mississauga, Ontario, native has played the last two seasons in Germany for Miesbach TEV and had back-to-back 72-point campaigns. Last year, he scored a college and pro career-best 32 goals. In 101 total pro games, he has collected 144 points (57-87-144) and 140 PIM. Schembri led Miesbach in scoring and assists each of the last two seasons. He was also the team's goals leader last season.
"Andrew has a track record of putting up consistent numbers everywhere he's been," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. "Adding another high-end offensive player that plays with grit is a big addition for next year. He plays with passion and has great habits and fits in with the identity of our team."
Prior to playing in Germany, the 5-foot-6, 170-pounder played four seasons at Ohio State University (2003-07). In 152 games with the Buckeyes, he posted 95 points (36-59-95) and 221 PIM. As a junior at Ohio, he led the team with 12 goals and finished second in team scoring (12-11-23). As a senior he finished tied for second on the team with 26 points.
The Killer Bees return to Dodge Arena ice this October for their seventh season in the CHL. Season tickets are available now by calling 956-843-PUCK (7825).
