GARY, IN. – The Gary Steelheads announced today their fourth player signing of the season, pending league approval, as Kevin Simmons has been signed for the 2004-2005 season. Terms of the contract are confidential, as per team policy.

Simmons is no stranger to the CBA as he was a member of the 2002-2003 Grand Rapids Hoops team that advanced to the CBA Finals. He averaged 12.4 ppg. and 9.8 rpg. over a 47 game span for Grand Rapids and was a member of the American Conference All-Star team. His 9.8 rpg. was good for 4th overall in rebounding in the CBA in 2002-2003. He has played for the Phoenix Eclipse of the ABA and with San Carlos in the Dominican Republic in 2001. "This is a great opportunity for me to be back in the CBA with Gary," said Simmons. "The Steelheads are a first class organization from top to bottom and I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else. Playing with Jemeil and Shelly was a big factor in my decision to come to Gary. They are two veteran players who will make me a better player, and I know I will be able to return the favor for them."

"Kevin is a proven professional," said Steelheads Head Coach Duane Ticknor. "His strength is on the boards and defense. He will give us another option to go along with Shelly Clark in the low post. I am excited about bring Kevin here to Gary because I think he can really help us this season."
