Kerner to Groove, Bowman Released

GREENVILLE, S.C. (February 20, 2003) - The Greenville Groove of the National Basketball Development League has acquired center Jonathan Kerner, according to an announcement by NBDL Executive Director Karl Hicks and Groove Head Coach Tree Rollins. The Groove also waived forward Calvin Bowman.

This is the second NBDL stint this season for Kerner, who was acquired by the Columbus Riverdragons on Jan. 17 before being released on Jan. 22. The 6-foot-11, 245-pound East Carolina ('97) product played in two games (no starts) for the Riverdragons, averaging 13.5 minutes, 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds.

Bowman joined Greenville on Jan. 30 and played in four games (no starts) for the Groove. He averaged 3.3 minutes, 1.0 points and 0.8 rebounds.

Kerner is expected to be in uniform when the Groove (16-19) visits North Charleston (20-18) Friday at the North Charleston Coliseum. He will wear jersey number 7.
