
Kentucky Reach to hold Invitation-only Player Camp Sat., April 10

Elizabethtown, KY â Kentucky Reach, an inaugural member of the World Basketball Association, Inc. (WBA) based in Elizabethtown, KY will be conducting an invitation-only mini-camp on Saturday, April 10th in Elizabethtown. There will be two different sessions featuring potential Kentucky Reach signees. The morning session (9:30-11:30 am) will be held at Severns Valley Baptist Church, while the afternoon session (2:30-4:30 pm) will be held at Central Hardin High School, Kentucky Reach's home court for the 2004 season. All media outlets, including television, newspaper and radio are encouraged to attend this exciting event.
Players expected to attend include Kentucky Reach signee Jared McCurry (Bellarmine (KY) University), Antoine Pettway (University of Alabama), Emmett Thomas (University of Alabama), Alex "Skip" Dillard (University of Arkansas), Derek Robinson (Western Kentucky University), Lamont Roland (Louisiana State University), Tyrone Levett (Alabama State University), Chris Lawler (Auburn University), T.J. Kiesler (Spalding (KY) University), Ramon Kelly (University of Eastern Illinois), Marshall Sanders (Kentucky Wesleyan University), Clinton Sims (Eastern Kentucky University), Montrelle Irwin (Campbellsville University), Marcus Williams (Campbellsville University) and Larry Haralson (Campbellsville University).
From this group, Kentucky Reach will be hoping to fill out its 10-man roster. Only shooting guard Jared McCurry, a former Bellarmine University standout, has officially signed. Tick Rogers, a former University of Louisville standout, has orally committed to play for Kentucky Reach, however will not be at the mini-camp due to playing obligations overseas. Kentucky Reach will begin its season on April 30th at Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, KY. The season will conclude in late June 2004. The team will be coached by former Alabama standout and NBA player Jim Farmer. The team's president is Doug McAfee, a Campbellsville, KY native. The team's general manager is Robby Speer.
The WBA is the first professional basketball league to teach, develop and expose players to the NBA, NBDL, ABA, CBA and international scouts. The structure of the league is unique in that it focuses on teaching and entertaining while at the same time involving youth organizations and local communities. The WBA is in its inaugural season with teams in seven states including Rome (GA), Chattanooga (TN), Tunica (MS), Elizabethtown (KY), Macon (GA), Peachtree City (GA), Raleigh (NC) and Jackson (MS).
