Kentucky Reach News Release

Elizabethtown, KY – Kentucky Reach, an inaugural member of the World Basketball Association, Inc. (WBA) based in Elizabethtown, KY introduced Jared McCurry as its first signee today. McCurry, a 6-3 guard, played collegiately at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY (1998-2002) where he was an All GLVC Conference selection as a sophomore, junior and senior. He is among the school's top ten all-time in both scoring, assists and steals. McCurry was an All-State selection during his senior year at Elizabethtown High School (1998).

McCurry is no stranger to the professional basketball circuit however. In 2002-03, he helped the Louisville Eagles of the United Pro Basketball League to a championship. Each WBA team will feature a 10-man roster and a three-month playing season from April to June beginning this year. Kentucky Reach will be coached by former Alabama standout and NBA player Jim Farmer.

"I'm really excited to have this opportunity," said McCurry, who amassed 1,565 points during his Bellarmine career. "Coach (Jim) Farmer says we're going to be an up-and-down, fast-paced team, and I feel like that suits my skills perfectly. I'm going to contribute in any way that I can, whether it be scoring, rebounding or passing. I feel that I'm a pretty versatile player. I'll do whatever it takes to win."

The WBA is the first professional basketball league to teach, develop and expose players to the NBA, NBDL, ABA, CBA and international scouts. The structure of the league is unique in that it focuses on teaching and entertaining while at the same time involving youth organizations and local communities. The WBA is in its inaugural season with teams in seven states including Rome (GA), Chattanooga (TN), Tunica (MS), Elizabethtown (KY), Macon (GA), Peachtree City (GA), Raleigh (NC) and Jackson (MS).

Kentucky Reach will host its first game on Friday, April 30 (7 pm) at Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, KY.
