Rochester RazorSharks News Release
The Matchup: This is the second meeting of the year between these teams currently on the outside of the Premier Basketball League playoff picture. Kentucky beat Rochester 108-105 on January 6th there.
The RazorSharks (2-6) are on a four game losing streak, all four of the games on the road. The Sharks are running sixth in the seven team PBL. The top four qualify for the playoffs.
Rochester welcomes back to the court guard Keith Friel who missed the team's last game in Lawton-Fort Sill. Friel was battling a hamstring pull.
Mike Williams will be back in the lineup playing his first game at home as a RazorShark. Williams came over from Vermont in the dispersal draft. He was leading the league in scoring with a 20.8 ppg. Williams scored seven points in his debut for Rochester at Halifax two weeks ago.
Point guard Jerice Crouch leads the team in scoring with 17.4 ppg. That's seventh best in the PBL. Crouch scored a season high 27 points in January's loss to Kentucky. Williams averages 19.1 overall which ranks third, but he scored only seven of his season's 153 points for Rochester.
The Sharks lead the league in turnovers and are last in assist to turnover ratio. That has been a point of emphasis for the team this week.
The Bluegrass Stallions (4-6) have lost three in a row, two of those to the league leading Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry. The other was a homecourt loss to Dayton where the Air Strikers snapped a six game losing streak.
Kenny Jones scored a team high 21 points against Rochester in Kentucky's win over the RazorSharks in January. Jones has scored more than 20 in six of his team's ten games. His 18.3 ppg ranks third in the PBL. Bo Harris is the league's fifth ranked rebounder.
The Stallions ranks last in both offensive team catagories (points and field goal percentage) and next to last in both defensive catagories (points against and field goal percentage aganst).
Of note: Nine of the ten roster players for the Bluegrass Stallions played their college ball in the state of Kentucky.
Of note: This is the second of five meetinge between these teams this season. The Sharks replaced the March 10th home game against the now defunct Vermont Frost Heaves with the Bluegrass Stallions.
