Kent Partridge Named Director of Communications

GREENVILLE, S.C., July 15, 2002 - The National Basketball Development League has named Kent Partridge Director of Communications, it was announced today by NBDL President Philip Evans.

Partridge, who most recently served as the Director of Broadcasting and Media for the NBDL's North Charleston Lowgators, will now oversee the day-to-day media relations operations for the NBDL, serve as chief spokesperson for the league, and manage the league's publicity initiatives.

Partridge will replace Brian Flinn, who will be moving into a position with the NBA's Communications Group after serving as Senior Manager, NBDL Communications for the past year and a half.

During the NBDL's inaugural season, Partridge worked closely with ESPN's production team on the cable network's reality show Down Low: Life in the D-League, which chronicled life in the NBA's minor league. He also oversaw the Lowgators public relations efforts and served as the league's head broadcast coordinator during nationally televised games on ESPN and ESPN2. Prior to joining the NBDL family, Partridge served as the Director of Public Relations for the XFL's Birmingham Thunderbolts and Director of Media Relations at Texas Tech. He also served as the Director of Media and Public Relations at Auburn University, where he worked for nine years in the Sports Information Department.

The NBDL, the NBA's minor league includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), North Charleston Lowgators (S.C.), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Mobile Revelers (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.), Greenville Groove (S.C.), and Asheville Altitude (N.C.). The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Eight NBDL players and one head coach were called up to the NBA during the NBDL's inaugural season and five executives have moved from NBDL teams to positions with major league organizations. Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the NBDL serves as a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 29 teams and as a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions in each NBDL city.
