
Kelowna Falcons Win Big on Thursday

Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Falcons flexed their offensive muscle again on Thursday night crushing the Walla Walla Sweets 14-3.
The Sweets would strike first in the top of the second inning with two runs off a double by catcher JJ Robinson.
In the bottom half the Falcons would get those runs back as both Kyle Moses and Pat Johnson walked with the bases load.
With the four runs scored in the second inning on Thursday night, a total of 22 runs have been recorded in the second inning during the course of the first three games of this series.
The Sweets would get another in the top of third, before the Falcons would score 12 unanswered on route to their ninth win of the season.
With the score 4-3 Falcons in the sixth the home side would erupt for four runs capped off by a three run homerun for Kelowna native Ryan Stajduhar. It would be his second in as many nights.
In the bottom of the eighth the Falcons would tack on six more runs as for the second consecutive game, Jerry McClanahan would homer to lead off the eighth inning.
With two more homeruns Thursday night, the Falcons have compiled a league leading eight homeruns in the last five games.
After McClanahan's homer, the Falcons would bat around and send 12 men to the plate blasting seven more hits. Cameron Alvarado hit a two-run double and Tyler Qualls would score Jace Conrad.
With 18 more hits on Thursday night, the Falcons have recorded 39 runs and 56 hits in the first three games of the series against the Sweets setting a new franchise record for runs scored in a series.
Stajduahar would finish the night with three hits and four RBIs, while McClanahan had three hits and two RBI. Six Falcons recorded multi-hits on Thursday.
Starter and reigning WCL Player of the Week Brandon Marris, climbs to 3-0 after throwing seven innings. He would allow three runs on seven hits, while striking out four.
With over 1,500 fans taking in the game, all gate admission was donated to the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. After the third inning, two cheque presentations were made to the Fire Department. Telus presented a $5,000.00 cheque to the Burn Fund, while the Falcons made a $15,000.00 cheque presentation.
The Falcons and Sweets will conclude their four game series on Friday night as the offense looks to continue to pile up the runs and hits. Oklahoma University's Cale Coshow will get the start looking for his third win of the summer. Gates open at 5:30pm, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm.
