Kelowna Falcons Swat Bluejackets

July 22, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release

Bremerton, WA; Sunday afternoon the Kelowna Falcons would complete their second series win over the Kitsap Bluejackets with a 6-1 victory heading into the 2013 All-Star Break.

The Falcons jumped out in front with a run in their first at bats. James Sloan would score on an RBI single from Jarryd Klemm, his 17th of the season.

The lead was erased immediately as the Bluejackets would tie it in the bottom of the first off Falcons' starter Caleb Olson.

Both starters would settle down after that, keeping the opposition off the scoreboard. Then in the fifth inning the Falcons broke through when Scotland Church scored all the way from first base on a Grayson Porter hit to left field, in which the fielder misplayed it. The run would prove to be the game winner.

In the sixth the Falcons would tack on four more runs. Robby Witt, Jeffrey Bohling, Sloan and Church would collect RBI hits as eight players would bat in the inning.

The bullpen of Karl Myers and Josh Phillips would keep the Bluejackets at bay, tossing four shutout innings to preserve with victory for Olson, his second of the summer.

The Falcons offense would collect eight hits, as Reed Lavallee was the only player to have two base knocks in the contest.

The Falcons hit the All-Star Break with a 14-25 record and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. All but three players will enjoy an extended break as the club will not play until Saturday night when they host the Bellingham Bells. Grayson Porter, Darren Kolk and Nolan Johnson will represent the Falcons at the 2013 All-Star Game in Victoria on Tuesday night. Porter will also participate in the Homerun Derby.
