Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Falcons and the West Coast League (WCL) are proud to announce Brandon Marris has been named the WCL Player of the Week.

The right hander tossed a complete game shutout versus Cowlitz on Friday at Elks Stadium. Marris gave up only four hits while walking one and striking out six as the Falcons topped the Black Bears 4-0.

Marris, the Falcons Most Outstanding Pitcher in 2011, was 11-4 with a 2.51 ERA at Southeastern Oklahoma State in the spring and would earn first-team All-Great American Conference honours. The righty from The Colony, Texas struck out 90 over 89 2/3 innings pitched.

Last season for the Falcons Marris set new club records for strikeouts (71) and innings pitched (81.1).

Marris is 2-0 and has yet to allow a run this summer over 16.1 innings pitched.

He is the potential starter on Wednesday night at Elks Stadium when the Falcons host the Walla Walla Sweets.

The Falcons begin a seven game home stand on Tuesday night, the first four against Walla Walla, before a three game weekend set against the Bend Elks.
