Kelowna Falcons News Release

Wenatchee, WA - Thursday night the Kelowna Falcons suffered a heartbreaking loss in 10 innings as the Wenatchee Applesox defeated the Falcons 5-4.

The Falcons would yet again score in the first inning on Thursday night after Grayson Porter drove in Darren Kolk for his 25th RBI of the season.

The lead would not last long as the Sox would tie the game in the bottom of the second off starter Jason Mouton. Then in the third they would score again to take their first lead of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth the Applesox would score two more runs, spelling the end of the night for Mouton.

Down 4-1 in the top of the sixth, the Falcons would start to claw their way back into the game as Kolk would score his second run of the ball game to cut the lead in half.

The Falcons would creep within one in the top of the eighth when Scotland Church scored an unearned run on a Porter ground out RBI.

In the top of the ninth and trailing by a run Reed Lavallee would single to begin the inning. He would move to second on a two strike bunt by Nelson Benjamin getting Lavallee into scoring position for Nathan Robertson. The Falcons shortstop would drive in Lavallee with a RBI single, his 13th of the summer to tie the ballgame at four.

In the top of the 10th the Falcons would leave two runners stranded. In the bottom of the inning reliever Jacob Phillips would retire the first two batters, before walking Joey Jansen. He would then promptly steal second moving into scoring position for former Falcon Brock Slavin (2012). He would burn his former team with an RBI double to win the game and the series for the Applesox.

The Falcons will travel to Bremerton Washington on Friday to begin a three game series with the Kitsap Bluejackets.

The club will finally return home following the All-Star Break on Saturday July 27 when they host the Bellingham Bells.
