Kelowna Falcons Drop 3-2 on Monday

August 6, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release

The Kelowna Falcons bats were kept quiet through eight innings, falling 3-2 in Walla Walla to begin their final road series of the season. It's the 13th one run game the Falcons have played in and are now 6-7 in those games.

The Sweets would get on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the third inning off Falcons' starter Jason Mouton. The run was unearned after an error from centerfielder Darren Kolk.

In the sixth the Sweets would score another after a one-out solo homerun from Jake Wylie, his first of the season to lead 2-0. In their next at bats the Sweets would tag on another unearned run after a throwing error by Jeffrey Bohling.

That would be all the runs Sweets starter Chris Lovejoy would need showing no "love" to the Falcons, not allowing the first hit until the eighth inning. Cody Andreychuk would finally break the no hitter with a leadoff single.

Down 3-0 in their final at bats the Falcons would rally in the top of the ninth scoring two runs on RBIs from Jarryd Klemm and Scotland Church. However with the tying run at second, in scoring position with two out the rally was snuffed out by Sweets closer Sean-Luke Brija who recorded his 10th save of the season.

Mouton was strong for the Falcons in the loss throwing seven innings, allowing just one earned run, scattering five hits and striking out eight.

The Falcons (17-32) will play the Sweets (26-22) in game two on Tuesday evening. The club will finally return home on Friday to host the Wenatchee Applesox in the final series of the season.
