Keith Gispert Named to AFL All-Rookie Team
May 19, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
May 19, 2003 â Sunday afternoon Keith Gispert kicked a 16-yard field goal in overtime to send the Chicago Rush into the playoffs. Today, Gispert was named to the Arena Football League's 2003 all-Rookie team.
Gispert enjoyed a solid rookie season with the Rush, playing in 13 games and connecting on 64 of 79 PAT attempts and nine of 21 field-goal attempts. His 91 points led all rookie kickers.
"I thought he did an excellent job this year," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We have had our troubles with kickers in the past, so there was a lot of pressure on him coming to Chicago. But he truly performed well and showed yesterday how he handles a pressure situation."
The AFL Rookie of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, May 28.
The Rush begins its drive to the ArenaBowl as the AFL's ninth seed and opens the playoffs against the eighth-seeded New York Dragons.
