Amarillo, TX 6/9/09 - Last Saturday's home game brought a somber note to this season's Amarillo Dusters. Kicker Keita Iizuka suffered a neck injury, and is currently hospitalized.

Iizuka, 24 (3/8/1984), went down during the opening kickoff of the second half, where he would suffer a severe neck injury. Iizuka underwent emergency surgery Saturday night, and is currently recovering.

"This is a very sad situation for us," commented Dusters head coach Ben Bennett. "He is showing signs of improvement everyday. If heart and soul have anything to do with it, Keita will be alright. We are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best."

In light of the Keita injury, the Dusters signed former Amarillo kicker Jacob Felton.

Felton, 24 (6/28/1984), kicked for the Dusters during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The latter was his most accurate season, nailing fifty percent of his field goal attempts.

"We are deeply saddened about the Keita situation," remarked Duster general manager Joe Morgado. "Nevertheless, Jacob is a capable fill-in and we are delighted to have him on our team."

"I never thought I was going to have the opportunity to kick again," said newly acquired Dusters kicker Jacob Felton. "I'm thrilled to be back in a Dusters inform."

Felton, a Randall High School graduate, kicked at West Texas A&M from 2002-2005. During his final year with the Buffs, Felton was named to the All-Lone Star Conference team, setting a new LSC single-season points record, as well as several WTAMU school records.

Amarillo (2-8) will take on the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings on Saturday, June 13 at the Amarillo Civic Center. To order your tickets, call Amarillo Sports Central at (806) 350-PASS.
