Katy Waugh Named Surge President

Katy Taylor Waugh has been named the new President of the Mississippi Surge Hockey Team.

"Katy brings a wealth of experience to our organization," Surge owner Tim Kerr said. "Her vast knowledge of management and marketing, as well as her fresh and innovative ideas will be a great contribution to our organization, not to mention her love and knowledge of the game and our team."

Waugh's responsibilities will include managing the front office; securing corporate sponsorships and partnerships; creating, coordinating and executing special events; advertising and marketing; and promoting overall awareness of the team.

Prior to joining the Surge, Waugh served as Marketing Associate for Carl Fallo, quoting and writing auto insurance through Liberty Mutual, in addition to serving as Vice President of Shoreline Insurance, LLC of Biloxi, MS, a position she will continue to hold. Her previous experience includes serving as Vice President for Genesis Marketing Group, LLC and President/Owner of KatyDid Advertising whose largest client was the largest Nextel dealer in the southeastern U.S. Waugh has also served in management and sales for several area businesses including The Bay Press, Q92.5 FM, the Sun Herald, Gannett in Ocean Springs, the Fox affiliate, WXXV-TV, and Triad Broadcasting.

Waugh currently serves as Secretary of the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club, is an active member of the Edgewater Rotary Club of Biloxi, and a member of the Mosaic Church in Ocean Springs, MS. She is the proud mom of two daughters, who both recently received their degrees in nursing.

"This is my dream job," Waugh said. "I have been a huge fan since day one and am honored to be a part of the team and help it move forward."

The Surge team store is holding a major merchandise sale right now. The store is open for business Monday through Friday at the Coast Coliseum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
