Nashville Kats News Release

NASHVILLE (April 6, 2005) – The Nashville Kats have released kicker Gary Kral and signed rookie Matt Hutto to take his place, head coach Pat Sperduto announced on Wednesday.

Kral, a third-year player who had also played with Buffalo and New York, was only 3-for-17 on field goal attempts, resulting in a league-worst .176 field goal percentage. He was 39-for-49 on extra points attempts so far this season. Kral missed a pair of field goal attempts in the Kats' win at Grand Rapids on Sunday, and he also missed a pair of extra point attempts during the team's second-half rally.

Hutto (6-1, 195) will kick in his first AFL game at Dallas this week. The rookie kicked at NAIA Cumberland University (TN) from 1999-2002, earning All-Mid South Conference honors all four years. He was also named second-team NAIA All-American in 2000 and 2002. Hutto connected on a school and conference record 59-yard field goal as a senior.

The Kats (2-7) travel to Dallas to take on the Desperados (6-3) on Friday. The game can be seen live on Fox Sports Net South (Comcast Ch. 28, DirecTV Ch. 633) at 7:30 p.m. CT.
