
Kastles Final Two Matches

Washington Kastles News Release
With just two matches left, the team is battling for the final WTT playoff position. The wildcard spot is currently up for grabs as the Sacramento Capitals hold one of the automatic playoff positions in the Western Conference. The Kastles trail the Boston Lobsters by one game and the Philadelphia Freedoms by a half-game. The final two matches at our home, Kastles Stadium at CityCenterDC, will be rocking as we try to qualify for the playoffs in our first season.
SachaA bright spot over the last week has been the play of the "Kiwi Kid" Sacha Jones. The youngest Kastle has taken over the women's singles duty and played with passion and talent that has wowed the crowds both home and away. In four matches, she has won two sets outright and played another to a tiebreaker. On Sunday, she started the final set with team in a 6 game deficit and nearly led the Kastles to a come from behind victory before falling in overtime.
Later today, she and her teammates will be visiting the New Zealand Embassy where they will have tea with her country's Ambassador. Sacha hails from Auckland, the nation's largest city.
Tonight, we will "Salute America," beginning at 7 PM. US Army Solider, Caleb Green will sing the national anthem and veterans currently being treated at Walter Reed Memorial Hospital will be in attendance along with representatives of several other veteran organizations. At half-time, four wheel chaired veterans will play a tennis exhibition on our court. Come out and show your patriotic colors!
On Wednesday, Anna Kournikova and the St. Louis Aces join us for the season finale. Kournikova who is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world won 16 WTA Women's Doubles Titles and Two Australian Open Doubles Championships. This will be the last chance to catch the Kastles at home as we conclude our inaugural season.
