K-Wings Announce Scouts
September 29, 2009 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2) News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce the placement of Chad Dameworth, Wes Bolin and Tim Gorski to their scouting staff.
Dameworth, a former defenseman for the K-Wings, spent 11 seasons in the professional ranks as a player. Born and raised in Marquette, MI, Dameworth spent two years playing in the North American Hockey League, also in Kalamazoo, before attending Northern Michigan University on a four-year hockey scholarship.
Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1994 Supplemental round, he went on to play over 700 games in the American Hockey League, International Hockey League, ECHL, and United Hockey League. Chad attended four NHL training camps over the course of his career, along with numerous AHL and IHL camps. The role of team leader has been awarded to him on many occasions as many of his former coaches named him team captain; he was also selected to the 2005 UHL All Star Game.
Dameworth brings experience as a player/assistant coach on several teams, as well as a scout and recruiter. Chad will be scouting at the collegiate and junior levels.
Bolin, who is currently the head coach of Woodbury High School in Minnesota, has been a head high school hockey coach for the past 26 years in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and is the only coach to have been named "Coach of the Year" in both states. In his career, Bolin has won numerous championships, making him one of the most successful High School coaches in hockey.
Wes has also been a coach for the past 25 years at Minnesota Hockey Camps in Brainerd, Minnesota, one of the premier training programs in North America. Other experiences include being a guest coach at the University of Wisconsin (2004), an assistant coach at Marian College (1996-97), and coaching at various U.S.A. Hockey Select Camps. He also has scouting experience for the Indiana Ice and the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League. Bolin will be scouting at the colligate level.
Gorski comes to Kalamazoo with over 25 years scouting and coaching experience, working with numerous professional, college, junior and high school players along the way. His scouting experience crosses over a wide variety of levels including the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers (1984-88), Minnesota North Stars (1989-90) and one of the K-Wings' NHL affiliates, San Jose Sharks (1991-1998).
Most recently, Gorski has worked as a regional scout for the Western Hockey League Kelowna Rockets, who won the Canadian Hockey League's Memorial Cup in 2004, and the Western Hockey League Championship in 2009. He also has experience with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League. Gorski will be scouting at the colligate level.
All three scouts will be compensated based on players signed to the organization.
