Justin Poirier Named Vidéotron Player of the Week

The latest Videotron Player of the Week is Baie-Comeau Drakkar winger Justin Poirier. In a trio of games, the 18-year-old from Valleyfield scored six times and added three assists as the Drakkar went 2-0-1-0 on the week.
On Friday night in Val-d'Or, Poirier and the Drakkar engaged in a wide-open offensive affair. By the time the final buzzer sounded, Baie-Comeau had secured a 10-5 victory over the Foreurs and Poirier was named the game's second star on the strength of his two-goal, two-assist evening. It was his third game of the season with at least four points to his credit.
The following afternoon in Rouyn-Noranda, Poirier was again front and center on the scoresheet. Though the Drakkar would eventually fall 6-5 in overtime to the Huskies in a back-and-forth affair, the third-year forward scored twice more to run his latest point streak to eight games.
Poirier would run that streak to nine games on Sunday afternoon. Back in Val-d'Or, his second goal of the game - and 36th of the season, tying him for the league lead - secured a 6-5 overtime triumph for the Drakkar over the Foreurs. On this occasion, Poirier, who added an assist on the afternoon, was named third star of the contest.
Poirier's latest offensive run places him second in the circuit with 66 points in 43 games. A fifth-round selection of the Carolina Hurricanes at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Poirier is four away from reaching the 200-point mark in his QMJHL regular season career.
