Justin Knoff Returns to the Skyhawks

Pitching stalwart Justin Knoff, who helped propel the Skyhawks to victory during their 2008 Can-Am League championship run, is returning to the Skyhawks to complete a trade with the Lincoln Saltdogs from earlier this year. Knoff started the season with the Skyhawks, compiling a 5-5 record in 14 starts with a 3.24 E.R.A. and 52 strikeouts. He then headed to Lincoln during the season, going 1-1 in 5 games during the regular season with a 5.87 E.R.A.
Knoff pitched well in the American Association playoffs, helping again to guide his squad to a league championship. He compiled a 1-0 record in 2 games, with a 2.35 E.R.A. and a .137 opponent batting average against. In game 4 of the divisional series, he went 9 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 6 in a no decision. In game 3 of the championship series, Justin went 6.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out 3.
The Skyhawks also acquired outfielder Josh Burrus from Lincoln. A former first round pick of the Atlanta Braves in the 2001 draft, Burrus put together a solid season in Lincoln, batting .282 with 10 home runs, and 21 doubles while showing Iron Man prowess, starting 94 of Lincoln's 97 games. Burrus' best season of ball came in 2005 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League, where he hit .284 in 76 games with 11 home runs and 53 RBI's earning him a mid season promotion to Triple A Richmond of the International League.
