Rochester RazorSharks News Release


The 2008-2009 PBL Champion RazorSharks have had an eventful offseason starting off when Team President and Co-Owner, Orest Hrywnak presented the Rochester Female and Male High School Athletes of the Year awards at the 60th Annual Press-Radio Club's Day of Champions Dinner. The dinner took place on Monday, May 18th at the Riverside Convention Center where former Rochester Red Wing and Baltimore Oriole, Cal Ripken, Jr. delivered the keynote address to those in attendance.

Following the Day of Champions Dinner, the RazorSharks were recognized by the Honorable Mayor Bob Duffy as he presented the organization with a plaque to the 2009 PBL Champions on winning back-to-back PBL Championships at City Hall on Friday, May 29th. In this picture are 2009 RazorSharks players (Marty O'Sullivan, Lincoln Smith, Isiah Ewing, Jerice Crouch, Derik Hollyfield and Sammy Monroe), Front Office staff, Game Day Operations staff and representatives of the LadySharks Dance Team.

PBL First Television Broadcast in China a Huge Success Chicago, IL...The Premier Basketball League announced the rebroadcast of the PBL Championship game between the Rochester RazorSharks and Battle Creek Knights was played on China's CSPN, the nation's largest TV sports channel on May 13, 2009.

PBL Chairman of the Board, Dr. Sev Hrywnak remarked, "The early household viewing numbers we have been told were slightly less than an NBA rebroadcast. This is truly a big number considering the household coverage of CSPN is over 500 million households."

"The numbers are even more impressive considering there was little promotion in China of the broadcast," added PBL CEO Tom Doyle. "We are pleased to be moving forward with a deal to broadcast at least twenty games next season."

"Heading into the 2010 season, the PBL television deal with @SPORTS TV and our partners in China is set to be seen in more households than any minor league, in any sport," added Hrywnak. "@SPORTS TV will be broadcasting PBL games throughout the United States and Europe the entire 2010 season."

"We continue to believe in the model we have created and are positioned to provide substantial benefit and exposure to our sponsors." stated Doyle
