
Julian De Guzman and Marcel De Jong Named to CanMNT for Upcoming World Cup Qualifiers

OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC will be represented by a pair of players when the Canadian Men's National team returns to action in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers in Vancouver and Mexico. Club captain Julian de Guzman and recent signing Marcel De Jong were both named to Benito Floro's squad for the matches against Mexico - March 25 at BC Place and March 29 at Estadio Azteca.
"To be able to play in front of a historic attendance is a dream come true," said de Guzman who will captain Canada against Mexico next Friday in front of 46,000+ at BC Place in Vancouver. "We're looking forward to giving back to the fans for all of their support. This shows that the game is continuing to grow in the right direction for Canadian soccer."
De Guzman will be honoured prior to the match for surpassing Canada's all-time record in international appearances.
For the upcoming series against Mexico, both matches will be broadcast live on TSN2, with the Friday match (March 25) broadcast at 10:00 p.m. ET and the Tuesday match (March 29) at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Following the home and away matches with Mexico on March 25 and 29, Canada then faces Honduras away and El Salvador at home again in September.

Fury FC are just over two weeks away from kicking off their third season in the North American Soccer League (NASL). Ottawa opens the 2016 campaign April 3 in New York - a rematch of last November's NASL Championship Final. Fury FC will host the expansion Miami FC in their home opener at TD Place on April 30.
