HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - The Chicago Slaughter is thrilled to welcome in big time, record-breaking University of Illinois quarterback, Juice Williams. He will start in his first Chicago Slaughter game this Saturday, June 4th, at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.
Coming from the Illini, Williams joins the team with four strong college years under his belt. While at U of I, he received the Honorable Mention All-Big Ten awards in 2007 and 2009. He also gained the Big Ten passing title and Second-Team All-Big Ten award in 2008 along with rushing titles in 2006 and 2007. Williams even led the college to the Rose Bowl in 2008 against USC.
Williams broke numerous school and state records throughout his years there. This includes breaking the U of I record for the season total rushing in 2007 and set the Illini season total offense record in 2008. Williams has set the record at the quarterback position with 44 starts and has set the all-time total offense record with 10,594 yards.
This past year alone, Williams topped the 8,000-yard mark with 8,037 career passing yards, which ranks third on the Illinois all-time list. He's ranked second on the Big Ten career rushing yardage list for a quarterback and ranks sixth in Illinois on the all-time rushing list with 2,557 yards. That is the first non-running back in U of I history to top the 2,000 yard career rushing mark.
This local football star can possibly give the spark the Chicago Slaughter need in finishing up their regular season games. The Chicago Slaughter (8-4) have their last regular season home game this Saturday night against the Sioux Falls Storm (12-0) who have been dominating all year long. The Sioux Falls Storm beat the Wichita Wild last weekend with a final score of 92-20. The Chicago Slaughter have had their ups and downs all season, but they know when to pull through in big games like this. Hopefully, with new quarterback, Juice Williams, the Slaughter can fight off the Storm and send them back home and destroy their undefeated record.
