The Sussex Skyhawks are thrilled to invite you to meet the team for the first time at Sheridan's Lodge this week!
Skyhawks Manager, former Major Leaguer Ed Ott, will be on-hand to share his plans for the upcoming season. Coaches Hunter Vick and Richard Morris as well as all 22 players on the opening day roster will be on hand for the event.
In addition to the Skyhawks manager, meet other former Major League players such as Duaner Sanchez and Andy Gonzalez. Sanchez, a 30-year-old right-hander from the Dominican Republic, made his Major League debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2002. Since then, he has pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres.
Sanchez was part of the 2006 New York Mets, a team that finished tied for baseball's best record at 97-65. He was an integral part of the Mets' bullpen, amassing a 5-1 record with 14 holds and a 2.60 ERA in 49 games. His season was cut short due to a car accident that resulted in a separated shoulder.
INF Andy Gonzalez to their 2010 roster. Gonzalez, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2001 MLB draft by the Chicago White, made his major league debut with Chicago in the 2007 season. After spending seven seasons in the White Sox organization, Gonzalez joined the Cleveland Indians in 2008. This past season, Gonzalez played with the Florida Marlins.
