Johnstown Tomahawks Announce Trade
May 26, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have announced the acquisition of defenseman Nick Criminisi from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights in exchange for draft picks in the 2016 NAHL Draft.
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Criminisi played 48 contests for the Knights in 2015-16, adding one assist and 32 penalty minutes.
"Bringing Nick in as a veteran defenseman made a lot of sense for us," Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia said. "He is a big-bodied, left-handed shot that can do a lot of things well and I think he will fit in very nicely with what we have here."
In 2014, the 6-4 defenseman was selected by the London Knights in round 14 of the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. The Knights, a premier team in the OHL, are currently participating in the prestigious Memorial Cup Tournament in Red Deer, Alberta.
"We knew him quite a bit from playing against him so many times while he was with Wilkes-Barre last season," Letizia said. "He is very excited about coming to Johnstown and that is what we love to hear when we bring anyone to our club."
The NAHL Draft is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. Fans can follow along live via FastHockey.com. The live stream will be free of charge.
