Johnson Named to 2013-14 ECHL Fantasy Team

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, are pleased to announce their member of the 2013-14 ECHL Fantasy Team, presented by The MeiGray Group. Wheeling's representative is forward Chaz Johnson.
Johnson, 29, is currently playing in his ninth season of professional hockey, and first with the Nailers. In 24 games thus far, Chaz has recorded three goals, eight assists, 11 points, and 54 penalty minutes, while serving as one of the team's alternate captains. His most notable performance with Wheeling came on November 15th, when he netted a hat trick against his former team, the Elmira Jackals. The Montreal, QC native has quickly become a fan favorite, thanks to his physical style of play, as well as his outgoing personality in the community. Johnson has been a regular guest on local radio and television shows, while also leading the way with high fives for the kids during the annual Wheeling Christmas Parade.
Chaz was selected, as fans had the opportunity to vote on ECHL.com for one player on each ECHL member team's ballot to help select the 2013-14 Fantasy Team. When the Nailers play host to the Toledo Walleye on January 11th, Johnson will wear a special ECHL Fantasy Team jersey. That date, he will be joined by a Wheeling goaltender, who will also wear a special jersey, thanks to the MeiGray Goaltender Program.
Both the Fantasy Team skater and goaltender specialty jerseys will be American-flag themed in support of the USA Hockey team at the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Each of the Fantasy Team skater and MeigGray goaltender jerseys will be available for bid through The MeiGray Group. Jerseys will be available for bid starting on Monday, Jan. 20 through Monday, Feb. 10.
The Wheeling Nailers have two more home games before the holidays, as they battle the Evansville IceMen on Friday and Saturday at 7:00.
