Johns and Hamilton acquired by Roanoke

March 9, 2004 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 9 – The Roanoke Dazzle has acquired center Darrell Johns and guard Justin Hamilton from the NBDL available player pool, according to an announcement today by league director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Dazzle head coach Kent Davison.

Johns and Hamilton fill the roster spots vacated by Mikki Moore and Matt Carroll signing with the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs, respectively.

A 7-1, 285-pound Chicago State ('01) product, Johns played in 32 games (15 starts) for Fayetteville this season before being waived by the Patriots on March 3. He averaged 21.0 minutes, 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds. This is his second stint in Roanoke, where he played in 28 games last season and averaged 14.2 minutes, 4.4 points and 3.8 rebounds.

Hamilton, 6-3 and 207-pounds from Florida ('03), has been playing in Greece. He was in 2003 vet camp with the Detroit Pistons before being waived on October 22.

Both Johns and Hamilton are expected to be in uniform when the Dazzle is host to Asheville on Wednesday. Johns will wear jersey #44 and Hamilton #12.
