Omaha Nighthawks News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - The fans of the Omaha Nighthawks have spoken and the United Football League has responded by naming JOE MOGLIA the President and Head Coach of the Omaha Nighthawks.

Moglia, who was originally installed as the head coach of the expansion team Virginia Destroyers, will fill the Omaha Nighthawks head coaching vacancy, remaining in the city that is home to TD Ameritrade, of which he was the CEO for seven years and is Chairman of the Board. Moglia was Executive Advisor to Bo Pelini, the head football coach at the University of Nebraska in nearby Lincoln, NE for the past two years.

"We became aware of a fan grassroots campaign to keep a very successful businessman who they feel is a great asset to the Omaha community in their city, which gathered pace and influenced our decision-making," said UFL Commissioner MICHAEL HUYGHUE. "I was bombarded by hundreds, almost thousands, of emails and felt I had to either name Joe head coach in Omaha or get extra bandwidth for my phone.

"I credit that viral social media campaign with Joe Moglia becoming the new head coach of the Omaha Nighthawks. We had not expected to move Joe, but as has become customary with the UFL, we listened to our fans."

New Nighthawks President and Head Coach Moglia said: "Omaha and the state of Nebraska is my home. I am flattered that Nighthawks fans campaigned to have me remain in Omaha and am excited to put a winning team on the field to reward the sellout crowds the team attracts to every game.

"The people I met in Virginia were very welcoming and I am sorry to say farewell, but perhaps this change will be the catalyst for a friendly rivalry between the Destroyers and Nighthawks."

Moglia will be officially introduced to the Nighthawks fans and media in the near future and he is also preparing to add an offensive coordinator to his staff to coach alongside defensive coordinator TOM OLIVADOTTI.
