Jets withstand Blizzard, 6-2

December 18, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Alexandria Blizzard News Release

The three game win streak for the Minnesota Blizzard Junior "A" Hockey team came to an abrupt halt Friday night in Fargo, North Dakota. The Fargo-Moorhead Jets soared to a 6-2 win over the Blizzard. The Jets special teams performed well, with three power-play goals and one short-handed goal. Matt Moreland tallied twice, to pace the Fargo-Moorhead offense. The Jets rebounded from a one-goal loss to Minnesota in their last game, by peppering 53 shots on Blizzard goalie Clay Nestor (Glenwood, MN). Minnesota was able to avoid the shutout, with third period goals from Andrew Olson (Alexandria, MN) and Tony Selvog (Warroad, MN). The Blizzard mustered only 18 shots on goal in the contest.

The win vaulted F-M over the Blizzard, in the NAHL Western Division standings, and into a first-place tie with the Helena Bighorns, which suffered a 5-0 setback at Bozeman Friday night. The Blizzard is only one point behind the Jets and the Bighorns, owning a 17-9-2 record at the midpoint of the 2004-05 season. The Blizzard will kick off the second half of their regular season schedule Saturday night, December 18th, hosting Billings at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. Game time is 7:00.
