Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Fargo (ND) Fargo-Moorhead Jets' goaltender B.J. O'Brien has been named the co-defensive player of the week in the North American Hockey League, for the week ending December 18. It's the second time the 20-year old veteran has earned the honor, as he also won the award after the season's first week of play back in September.

O'Brien won both games he played in last week, including a shutout at Minnesota on Dec. 17, his third of the season. He also stopped 23 shots in a 5-2 win over North Iowa on Dec. 15. O'Brien is now second in the NAHL in goals against average and save percentage.

A Lakeville, MN native, O'Brien spent last season with the NAHL's Central Texas Marshals. He didn't win a game at Central Texas, a team which floundered in the South Division cellar, but has made that a distant memory by helping to backstop the FM Jets' to first place in the Central Division.

The FM Jets will put their first-place distinction on the line Dec. 28 and 29 when they face the second place Southern Minnesota Express at 7pm at the Carlson Coliseum.

NOTE: Due to an error by the Minnesota official scorekeeper, the NAHL's statistics incorrectly have the FM Jets' Dec. 17 win at Minnesota listed as a 1-0 victory. The FM Jets actually defeated Minnesota 8-0.

The FM Jets are the 2005 Borne Cup Champions and are in their third season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 30th year of operation.

Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at 103.9 THE TRUCK and fmjets.com.
