Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
(Fargo, ND) Mihulka and Okland keep the Jets within striking distance against Alexandria and Bismarck in losing efforts.
Offensive: Marc Mihulka (Grand Forks, ND) suited up both nights and collected a total of three points (1G, 2A) over the weekend. On Friday night he put the Jets up 2-0 in the third period with an unassisted goal that was a just an absolute beauty. Moments before that he fed a timely assist to Jordy Trottier's goal making it 1-0 under one minute into what was a scoreless third. Saturday after trailing for most of the game the Jets needed the veterans to step it up again and Marc did just that by never quitting on the power-play and making sure that line mate Marc Harrie got his goal bringing the Jets within a goal at 3-2 late in the third.
"With a stretch of tough games and a fight for a playoff spot Marc moved his feet and got what he deserved, a goal and two dishes," states coach Kinslow.
On the season Mihulka has skated in all 37 games providing 36 points (12G, 24A) while leading by example on and off the ice.
Defensive: Elliot Okland (Fargo, ND) has played some of his best hockey over the last six weeks giving the Jets chance each and every night. Getting the nod on Friday night against the Blizzard, Okland was perfect except for getting any scoring. He made the best save of the season and possibly his career by extending himself from the left to the right picking the puck out of air with his stick keeping the game scoreless. Saturday was no different as the Jets got on the board first but the Bobcats used the power-play late to knot the game at 1-1 after the first. Okland responded by making huge saves all night and the boys couldn't get him more than two goals and he was pinned with the lost yet again. Overall on the weekend Elliot stopped 54-60 shots and gave his all to get the win but it was the lack of offense that was the differences.
"He has come on strong as of late and if we make the playoffs it'll be on his shoulders without a shadow of doubt," explains coach Kinslow.
On the season Okland has appeared in 29 games managing a 10-16-1 record with a shut out, 3.14 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
