Jets Looking to Make Playoff Push

March 19, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

(Fargo, ND) The road to the playoffs isn't easy but is obtainable for the Jets as they travel to North Iowa and Alexandria this weekend.

In 10 previous meetings with the Outlaws, the Jets are just 2-8 and have not won in Mason City, having only led once 4-2 before being ousted 6-4 in early January. So with this being said a must win situation lies ahead for the boys. The Outlaws have outscored the Jets 41-17 in those games. One interesting fact to note is that in the last four contests the two teams have split. The Jets swept North Iowa back in early February 3-1 and 3-2 respectively which marked a turn around in the season and have put the team in position to make the playoffs.

It has been special teams play in this season series that has affected the outcomes. The Outlaws rank first in the NAHL in penalty kill while the Jets are seeded 12th. When it comes getting the puck in the net on the man advantage the Jets are seventh with 17.39 percent and the Outlaws clock in at 10th at 16.29 percent. With the number one seed already locked up, North Iowa may or may not play their big guns come Friday and Saturday. Goalie Robby Moss has already missed time due to a knee injury and whether or not he plays could make a huge difference.

"We have to do our part and let things work themselves out in order win. We played very well in the last four meetings with these guys [North Iowa] and this is the momentum we need." states coach Kinslow.

Come Sunday the Jets will be in Alexandria to take on a Blizzard squad whom also needs to win against Bismarck this weekend to keep their post-season dream alive. The Jets have gotten the best of Blizzard this season and hold the tie breaker at this point. Don't miss any of the excitement as the playoff push really begins Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
