Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets will have a chance to clinch a spot in the North American Hockey League playoffs as early as this Friday night. In doing so, the Jets could be the first NAHL team to earn a spot in the 2005 postseason.

As of now, the Jets' magic number to clinch a playoff spot is five over the fifth place Bismarck Bobcats

Fargo-Moorhead takes on the Bismarck Bobcats Friday night at the Carlson Coliseum. The first 1,000 fans will receive foam hockey pucks, courtesy of the Happy Hooligans. One of the largest crowds of the season is expected for Friday's game.

Saturday night, the Jets face the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, also at the Carlson Coliseum. Both games start at 7:05pm.

The Jets could clinch a playoff spot, against their archrivals, Bismarck, on Friday night. However, that will not be known until after Bismarck's home game Thursday night versus Fairbanks.

Here is the breakdown of the scenarios, and how it affects the Jets' magic number...

IF BISMARCK WINS THURSDAY:

The Jets magic number will stay at FIVE and they WON'T be able to clinch a playoff spot until Saturday at the earliest.

IF BISMARCK LOSSES THURSDAY:

The Jets magic number dips to THREE and they WILL have a chance to clinch a playoff spot on Friday night with a regulation or overtime/shootout win. This would make the Jets the first team in the NAHL to clinch a postseason berth.

The Jets have won a franchise record seven consecutive games, and currently have the second longest win streak in the NAHL.

Tickets for all remaining Jets' games are available by calling the team office at (701) 235-2354 or visiting fmjets.com

The FM Jets are in their second season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 29th year of operation.

Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcasted on fmjets.com.
