Jets Announcer Resigns

April 30, 2007 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets Junior A hockey team is announcing the resignation of the team's Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations Scott Montesano, as he will be moving to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to pursue minor league baseball and other radio interests. The only play-by-play announcer in team history, Scott has been with the franchise since the 2004-2005 season calling 211 consecutive games and was named one of the voices of the 2005 North American Hockey League All-Star Game.

Montesano will be entering his second season as the radio voice of the Northwoods Baseball League's Eau Claire Express starting May 31st and will stay in that area in a to be determined capacity at the end of the season.

"Deep down, baseball is my passion. Hockey has been like a best friend, but baseball is my wife so to speak" said Montesano. "I have to side with the wife, which is good wisdom to live by I've been told."

During his three years with the FM Jets, Scott was at the microphone for all but two pre-season games which weren't broadcasted. Outside of that, he has been the franchise's sole voice on radio broadcasts at 103.9 KVMI and on the internet.

"I want to thank all of those who were fans of this team right from day one. They are the people who remember the days when the Coliseum only had a few dozen spectators and to think now that a crowd of 800 is small is unbelieveable" added Montesano. "Two seasons ago, a crowd of 800 for us was cause for celebration"

Montesano joined the FM Jets in late August 2004, out of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Utica, NY native's previous broadcast experience came in various baseball leagues in the northeast and collegiate hockey.

In addition to the radio broadcasts, Montesano handled many other front office duties including the team's internship program.

"The proudest accomplishment I will take is the internship program and playing a major role in (the student's) development. More than any win, loss or distinction I receive; the future success of the interns is the thing I will take the most from here" said Montesano.

Montesano will remain with the FM Jets until Wednesday May 9th.

During his three years, the FM Jets were 125-73-13 (.623%) in preseason, regular season, exhibition and playoff games.
