JetHawks win in dramatic comeback

(Lancaster, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks scored seven runs in their half of the eighth inning and came from behind to beat the Lake Elsinore Storm 10-9 in the third game of a four game series. Mark Reynolds hit his second grand slam of the season for the JetHawks, the third of his professional career.

The Storm scored two runs in the first inning, added another in the second on a Yordany Ramirez home run. Chase Headley hit his third home run of the series in the fourth to put the Storm up 4-2. Lake Elsinore added one more run in the sixth, three more in the seventh and added another run in the eighth to took a 9-3 lead. Brandon Burgess got things started in the eighth for Lancaster with a single, Rusty Ryal was hit by the pitch and Richard Mercado walked to load the bases. Derek Bruce singled to bring home the first run of the inning; Jeremy Milons hit a sac fly to score the second run. Chris Rahl followed with a single to right to score another run and Javier Brito drew the one out walk to load the bases for Mark Reynolds. Reynolds drilled a 2-2 fastball over the centerfield wall for the grand slam.

That was all the JetHawks needed, Jared Doyle and Matt Elliott retired the Lake Elsinore hitters in the ninth to preserve the win. Hipolito Guerrero (1-3) pitched 1.2 innings to collect his first win of the season and Matt Elliott recorded his 14 save of the season for the JetHawks. Lancaster improved to 26-31 with the win; Lake Elsinore fell to 28 and 28 on the season with the loss. Lancaster has now won 7 out of the 13 games the two teams have played against each other.

The JetHawks continue the homestand Monday evening against Lake Elsinore. Greg Smith (7-0, 1.84) goes to the hill for Lancaster against Brent Carter (3-1, 4.82). First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. with the Burns Pharmacy JetHawks Pre-Game Show on Magic 1340 AM and www.jethawks.com starting at 6:15 p.m.

The JetHawks are home June 2-7 for a six game homestand including the Endless Summer Kick-Off weekend, complete with fireworks and special giveaways.
