
JetHawks Take Series with Come from Behind Win

LANCASTER, Calif. - For the second-straight game, the JetHawks came back to earn a win over Rancho Cucamonga, 7-6, on Sunday. Lancaster is now 7-2 in games decided by one or two runs, and they have a two-game lead in the division.
Trailing 5-2 in the seventh, Lancaster (13-11) rallied to go in front with four runs. Chris Mathewson walked the bases loaded, and Manny Melendez singled to score two. Joel Diaz followed with an RBI groundout to tie the game. Later in the frame, Colton Welker put the JetHawks in front, 6-5, with a double down the line in left.
Rancho Cucamonga (11-13) answered in the top of the eighth to knot things up once again. Zach Reks hit his second home run of the contest. Bryan Baker (1-0) was fantastic otherwise, striking out three in the inning.
The JetHawks took the lead for good in the last of the inning against Jason Richman (1-1). Vince Fernandez reached on an error with one out, and Max George came through with a run-scoring double to put Lancaster up, 7-6.
Reid Humphreys worked a scoreless ninth inning, picking up his sixth save of the season and his second in as many days. He is now tied for the league lead in saves.
Lancaster got on the board in the opening frame on an RBI triple from Tyler Nevin. After a pair of Rancho runs in the third, Alan Trejo tied the game with his first home run of the season.
The Quakes scored the next three runs of the game, setting the stage for Lancaster's late comeback. The JetHawks have won six of their last eight contests.
Manny Melendez stretched his hitting streak to eight with his two-run single. Six different JetHawks drove in a run in the game.
After a series win, the JetHawks travel north to begin a four-game series in Stockton Monday. Trey Killian (0-2) takes the ball in the opener against Parker Dunshee (2-0). First pitch from Banner Island Ballpark is set for 7:10 pm.
