Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - One night after the Storm pitching staff held the JetHawks to a single run, the Lancaster pitching staff returned the favor. Four JetHawks pitchers, led by Kellen Raab's five shutout innings, combined to hold the Storm to one run on six hits as the JetHawks beat the first-place Storm 2-1. The win gets the JetHawks back to 1.5 games behind Lake Elsinore in the battle for the second half title.

Raab left with a 1-0 lead after five innings. While several deep counts limited Raab's innings, he was effective, allowing just four hits. The lone Storm run came in the seventh inning on two walks issued by Jesus Silva, one walk given up by Dan Polhman, and an error. Pohlman rebounded to pitch a scoreless eighth inning while Matt Elliott closed it out in the ninth for his 22nd save. Raab's win is his fifth in a row, evening his record at 8-8.

The JetHawks offense was not prolific, but scrounged enough to win. Cesar Nicolas had a pair of RBI singles, scoring Chris Rahl in the fourth and sixth innings.

The JetHawks wrap up their three-game homestand Sunday night against Lake Elsinore. Cody Evans (1-2) gets the start for Lancaster against Manny Ayala (3-3). The game starts at 6:00 PM, with the pre-game show on radio and internet beginning at 6:45 p.m. The Jeremy Rourke Foundation Celebrity Softball Game takes place at Clear Channel Stadium from 1-4 PM, with several stars from movies, television, and sports taking part. A special ticket offer is available for just $10, giving fans entry to both games.

The JetHawks are home Friday, August 4 for a three-game homestand against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tickets and mini plan packages are currently available for the 2006 season and can be ordered by calling the JetHawks at (661) 726-5400 or by logging on to the team website at www.jethawks.com.
