(LANCASTER, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks are pleased to announce that JetHawks Hall of Famer John Laferney, the team's Director of Stadium Operations, will be honored in bobblehead form as part of the Hangar Heroes bobblehead series. Laferney, an original JetHawks employee, becomes the latest addition to a lineup of 15 individuals who will be immortalized in bobblehead form in the JetHawks 15th anniversary campaign.

John Laferney bobblehead night is scheduled for Aug. 31 when the JetHawks play host to Lake Elsinore at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a John Laferney bobblehead.

Laferney joined the JetHawks as a game day employee during the team's inaugural season in 1996. After joining the club's front office staff in 1997, Laferney was promoted to Stadium Operations Manager a year later. He was named Director of Stadium Operations at the start of the 1999 campaign. Laferney's numerous duties with the JetHawks include overseeing the clubhouses, ensuring the stadium is functional on game days, sales, player transportation and ordering baseballs and uniforms along with a plethora of other tasks.

"John's been with us since we opened our gates back in 1996 and he has been an important member of our family," says JetHawks Vice President and General Manager Larry Thornhill. "Including him in the Hangar Heroes bobblehead series was a natural choice and is fitting given everything he has meant to the Lancaster JetHawks."

The bobblehead is the latest honor bestowed upon Laferney by the JetHawks for his years of dedicated service to the ballclub.

"I was overwhelmed when I got inducted into the Lancaster JetHawks Hall of Fame last year," Laferney says. "And now to get my own bobblehead, it's kind of overwhelming. It's a great honor to have somebody think that highly of you."

The Hangar Heroes bobblehead giveaways return on Wednesday May 19, when the JetHawks take on Rancho Cucamonga. The first 750 fans in attendance will receive a Mike Lanza bobblehead. Lanza, an Antelope Valley resident, was a member of the JetHawks first team in 1996. Game time is set for 7 p.m. On May 21, the JetHawks will give away Koby Clemens bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans. Clemens, the son of former Major League All-Star Roger Clemens, captured the 2009 California League batting title while playing for the JetHawks.

A special stand which holds five of the JetHawks Hangar Heroes bobblehead dolls is available now in the JetHawks Gift Shop. Each purchase of a stand includes one free Hangar Heroes bobblehead, enabling fans to receive the dolls even after the giveaway date has passed.

The 2010 season marks the 15th anniversary of professional baseball in the Antelope Valley, and since its inaugural game in 1996, The Hangar has produced more than 90 Major Leaguers and inducted 25 members into The JetHawks Hall of Fame. Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of 15 years of Hangar Heroes in 2010.
