Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(SAN BERNARDINO, CA) - Broken fuses in the light towers at Arrowhead Credit Union Park led the suspension of Tuesday night's game between the Lancaster JetHawks and the Inland Empire 66ers. The game will resume at 4 PM Wednesday afternoon as part of a double-header
With the sun still shining, Tuesday's game started as normal at 7:05 PM. The JetHawks got singles from J.B. Shuck and Jon Gaston to set up back-to-back doubles from Koby Clemens and Matt Weston as Lancaster took a 3-0 lead in the opening frame. JetHawks starter Leandro Cespedes struck out six batters over the first two innings before it became too dark to play.
While the stadium operations crew set to work to try to fix the lights, the players milled around on the field during a delay that lasted more than an hour. Four of the six light poles eventually came on, but two stayed off, leaving the left side of the field noticeably darker than the right.
The suspended game will be resumed at 4 PM Wednesday afternoon. The contest will pick up where Tuesday night's efforts left off, beginning the top of the third inning with Lancaster leading 3-1. The regularly scheduled game for Wednesday night will be shortened to a seven-inning game and will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
Both games will be broadcast live on Magic 1340 AM and online at JetHawks.com with the Pre-Game Show beginning at 3:45. The Clubhouse Show, which normally airs at 5 PM Wednesdays, will not take place. However, the special interview with the Oscar nominated writer and director of Bull Durham, Ron Shelton, will instead be broadcast next Wednesday, June 17.
The JetHawks will return home Monday, June 15 to play a three-game series against the Inland Empire 66ers. The games will feature the popular Feed Your Face Monday, Deuces Wild Tuesday, and Winning Wednesday/Autograph Nights.
Great ticket packages, including season tickets and flexible mini-plans, as well as individual game tickets, are on sale now for the 2009 season and may be ordered by calling (661) 726-5400. For more information, please visit the JetHawks official website www.JetHawks.com.
