July 14, 2008 - Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL)
Jersey Rockhoppers News Release
(West Orange, NJ) - The Jersey Rockhoppers of the Eastern Professional Hockey League will be holding their first annual Pro Prospects camp from August 15-17 at the Richard J. Codey Arena. Players will have the opportunity to compete in 3 on ice sessions over the course of the weekend. There will be an on-ice practice session followed by 2 games, where players will be evaluated by the Jersey Rockhoppers coaching staff. "Coach Gratz will be inviting a minimum of 4 players to the Rockhoppers main training camp in October," according to team owner Igor Mrotchek.
Brian Gratz, Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations, stated "I am looking forward to our first Pro Prospects camp to find some qualified hockey players to help make the Jersey Rockhoppers a success in this first season of the EPHL." Last year, Gratz invited several prospect camp players to training camp and they endured the challenging and highly competitive week and made it to the final roster. "In past seasons, I have found that these prospects camps can be an invaluable tool in finding talented players," said Gratz.
On Friday August 15th, players will arrive and check in at the Richard J. Codey Arena for the camp. The on-ice sessions will begin on Saturday August 16th with an on-ice practice in the morning and a game in the evening for each team. Sunday, August 17, will conclude the camp with another game for each team followed by closing meetings with players who will be invited back to training camp. Schedules and team assignments will be handed out at check-in on August 15th.
"This is a great opportunity for young talented hockey players to be seen and have an opportunity to play professional hockey," said Igor Mrotchek and he feels that the EPHL is a tremendous opportunity for players to gain experience and move up in the hockey ranks. "Last year, Brian Gratz's single A hockey team received 30 call-ups to the AA level and he is looking for more of the same with the inaugural season of the EPHL," Mrotchek said.
