The Jersey Express is set to play its first home game of the 2011-12 season on Saturday, November 19 at 7 p.m. at the Jersey City Armory, as the Express takes on its Northeast Division rival, Staten Island Vipers. Mayor Healy will toss the ceremonial jump ball to open the home season.
"There is no NBA as of yet, but the ABA is here and will be around," said Express spokesman Jeff Brown Sr. "We'll continue to be here for the fans, providing the community with exciting basketball, a fan-friendly atmosphere, and quality entertainment at an affordable rate. Join us on Saturday night to see New Jersey's only professional basketball team."
The Express return home in hope of bouncing back from an opening-night loss to Connecticut, 122-104.
"The team is looking forward to opening night, to show the fans of New Jersey an exciting brand of basketball," said coach Joseph Amador. "Our organization's theme this season is `Pride'representing ourselves, our team and the state of New Jersey to the best of our abilities and working hard to put a product on the floor that we are all proud of."
Individual game tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. During halftime of the Express-Vipers game on Saturday night, there will be a performance by recording artist Fe. For tickets to the game, click here.
In anticipation of the home opener, the Express has re-launched its team website, www.jerseyexpress.net, providing a more fan-friendly place to learn more about New Jersey's ABA team, including a roster, schedule, statistics, and more.
