Jeremy Burnett Joins Raiders

Jeremy Burnett was born in Tampa, Florida and attended Jefferson High School. In high school, Burnett was a standout defensive player and team captain. His play garnered a No. 39 ranking in the state of Florida by SuperPrep and three first-team all-conference selections. Besides football, Burnett also played baseball and ran track. Upon his high school graduation, Jeremy enrolled at Purdue University and redshirted his freshman year. After the season he transferred to the University of South Florida where he would shine as a high-powered, high-talented strong safety and cornerback. His drive and persistence to be a great football player also landed him on most special teams, where he found his niche as one of the teams all around best, and most physical athletes. Jeremy was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent and also later signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He returned to Jefferson High School as a Defensive Coordinator and helped the Dragons win the 2010 3A Florida Football State Championship. Now his time as a Raider has begun! Jeremy sat down with us for a few questions.
How does it feel to become a Lakeland Raider'
"It feels great. I'm excited and I feel like I'm involved with a great group of people."
What do you bring to the team to make them a championship team'
"I bring experience from playing football on all different levels and I have the ability to take away half the field and that should make it easy for the defense as a whole."
What is the feeling you miss the most about football'
"The feeling I really miss about football is the camaraderie and lining up and going to war with a close group of guys."
