
Jaxx lose 6-4 on Sunday

Jackson, Tenn. (April 26, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (7-10) committed five errors and left 12 runners on base Sunday afternoon, as a great start by Justin Souza was erased on a four run seventh by the Braves (9-8). The Jaxx fall 6-4.
Justin Souza made the start in place of injured RHP Ricky Orta and Souza was great, dealing five innings, allowing no runs on just four hits. Deunte Hill, the starter for the Braves dealt five and two thirds innings, giving up one earned run on seven hits.
The Jaxx have enjoyed success at the plate in the first inning and they continue that trend on Sunday. Ezequiel Carrera and Oswaldo Navarro opened the game taking walks from Heath. Carrera advanced to third on a throwing error by Braves catcher Jose Camarena. Marshall Hubbard brought in Carrera from third on a fielders choice to third.
Oswaldo Navarro led the third inning off for the Jaxx. Navarro took a 1-2 hanging breaking ball from Heath over the left field wall for his first homer of the year, giving the Jaxx an early 2-0 lead.
After the Braves drew within one with a run in the sixth, the big inning was the seventh. The Braves scored four runs in the inning off of Marwin Vega (0-1) on four hits, three Diamond Jaxx errors and a two-run homerun by Greg Creek. The Braves took a 5-2 lead.
The Jaxx answered with two runs in the seventh. Johan Limonta and Greg Halman singled to lead off the inning, and an RBI ground out by Brent Johnson brought in Limonta. Matt Mangini capped off his three hit day at the plate with a RBI broken bat hit that scored Halman.
The Braves added an insurance run in the top of the ninth after Gorkys Hernandez led the inning off reaching on an error by Jaxx second baseman Jeff Dominguez. That was the Jaxx fifth error of the game. Hernandez scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Eric Campbell giving Mississippi a 6-4 lead. Rafael Cruz (4) closed out the game in the bottom of the ninth, recording his fourth save of the year.
Matt Mangini provided some offense for the Jaxx going 3 for 3 at the plate with a triple and an RBI in the game. Oswaldo Navarro, Johan Limonta and Greg Halman each added two hits for the Diamond Jaxx. Brian Dumesnil (1-2) picks up the win for Mississippi.
RHP Kyle Parker (1-1, 4.73) will start for the Jaxx on Monday night at 7:05 for the Jaxx. Parker will be opposed by LHP Scott Diamond (1-1, 4.50) for the Mississippi Braves.
