September 27, 2007 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, September 27, 2007 - Portland LumberJax mascot Jaxon is all laced up and ready to walk to cure diabetes. On Sunday, September 30, Jaxon will partake in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes at Oaks Park.
Jaxon, whose shoe size is more like 6 x 15, will be one of 5,000 expected walkers. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m.
As many as three million Americans have type 1 diabetes, a disease most often diagnosed in childhood that strikes suddenly, lasts a lifetime, and carries the constant threat of deadly complications, including heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, and amputation. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
To register, please call (503)643-1995 or visit www.jdrf.org. Jaxon hopes to see all of you there!
