Portland Lumberjax News Release

PORTLAND, June 19, 2008 - The Portland LumberJax are about to tackle cancer by pedal and on foot. Partnering with Team Risky Business, the Jax will participate in the Livestrong Challenge on Sunday, June 29 at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton. The event features bike rides from 10-100 miles and a 5K walk/run.

The Livestrong Challenge is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) signature fundraising event. Armstrong is a cancer survivor who won seven consecutive Tour De France Titles after battling cancer. His awe inspiring story has been captured globally and he is one of the world's most recognizable public figures.

Portland is one of four select cities to host a challenge that features walking, running and cycling races to support the LAF. After Portland, the Livestrong Challenge makes stops in San Jose on July 13, Philadelphia on August 24 and Austin, Texas on October 25-26.

Team Risky Business had 223 members and raised over $192,000 in 2007. This year, Team Risky Business expects to raise over $400,000 as it will participate in both the Portland and San Jose races.
