Jason Capel Returns to Patriots

GREENVILLE, S.C., December 10 – The Fayetteville Patriots of the National Basketball Development League have claimed Jason Capel from the available player pool, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Fayetteville head coach Jeff Capel. The Patriots also released guard Greg Stevenson.

Capel, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward, is entering his second tour of duty with the Patriots. An honorable mention All-NBDL selection last season, the University of North Carolina ('02) product played in and started 42 games for Fayetteville, averaging 25.2 minutes, 11.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists. The son of Patriots head coach Jeff Capel, Jason had been playing internationally since helping lead Fayetteville to the NBDL regular season title in 2002-03.

Stevenson played in six games for Fayetteville this season, starting three. He averaged 23.2 minutes, 7.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Capel is expected to be in uniform when the Patriots (4-2) entertain the Columbus Riverdragons (1-6) at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday at the Crown Coliseum. He will wear jersey #25.
