Gary Steelheads News Release

Gary, IN: The Gary Steelheads announced today their 5th player signing of the season as Jarrod Gee will be returning to the Steelheads for his 3rd season. Gee is the third player from last year's playoff team to commit to the Steelheads.

Last season Gee averaged 13.4 ppg. and 6.0 rpg. over a 12 game stretch with the Steelheads, after signing on February 12th. Gee averaged 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game with the Steelheads in 2001-02. He has played with the Charleston Lowgators of the NBDL, the St. Louis Skyhawks of the USBL and has extensive overseas experience.

The Chicago native played at the University of Illinois and was a big part of the Fighting Illini's 1997-98 Big Ten championship team. He was Illinois Class A Mr. Basketball as a senior at St. Martin dePorres High School in Chicago.

"Having Jarrod back for another season is a real plus for the organization," said Steelheads Head Coach Duane Ticknor. "He provides a steady force for us in the low post and he works real well with Shelly and Jemeil. We are glad to have him back."

"I had a great time in Gary last season playing for Coach Ticknor," said Gee. "With Jemeil and Shelly being back again, the decision to be back in Gary was easy. We made some good improvements as a team at the end of the season and hopefully we can go farther than we did last year."
