Jarboe named player of the week

Alpena MI: For the second straight week an Alpena IceDigger player has claimed the North American Hockey League, North Division player of the week honors.

Netminder Mike Jarboe has been named player of the week for the week of March 12 - March 18. Jarboe picked up three wins last week allowing just two goals in nine periods of hockey. The Grosse Pte. Park MI native recorded two shut-outs making a total of 85 saves in 180 minutes.

"Mike has been good for us all year but he is in a groove right now and playing his best hockey, this is what I expected of him when we got him earlier in the year in a trade." said head coach Kenny Miller. "He has the ability to be one of the best goalies in the league and he is showing everyone that right now."

Jarboe is the first IceDigger in franchise history to earn player of the week honors twice in one season. The Alpena IceDiggers have earned the award a total of eight times this season other players wining the award have been Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie WI), Erik Peterson (Alpena MI), Todd Rudasill (Powell OH), Justin Stadler (Livonia MI), Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI) and Shawn Hunwick (Sterling Hts. MI).

Mike and his teammates will finish out the regular season with three road games Friday and Saturday in Mahoning Valley . Both games start at 7:00PM, before heading to Marquette on Sunday April 1 for a 3:00PM start.
