Jarboe named Player of the Week

Alpena MI: Alpena IceDiggers (10-3-0) goaltender Mike Jarboe turned aside 52 of 58 shots last weekend, backstopping the IceDiggers to a pair of wins over Traverse City (7-7-1). On Friday, the Grosse Point Park, MI., native made 29 saves in Alpena's 6-3 win over the North Stars. The following night, the 18-year-old stopped 23 shots in a 4-3 IceDiggers triumph.

"Mike was very solid this past weekend and was a big part of why we were able to get two very important road wins." said Head Coach Kenny Miller

On the season, Jarboe, who was acquired earlier this year from St. Louis, is 3-0 with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

Alpena native Erik Peterson was also nominated for the player of the week award. Peterson netted 1 goal and added 3 assists in the 2 games in Traverse City. Peterson now has 5 goals, 6 assists for 11 points in 13 games. "I thought Erik was one of the best forwards on the ice this weekend.

Jarboe joins Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI) and Shawn Hunwick (Sterling Hts. MI) as members of the IceDiggers who have been awarded Player Of The Week for the NAHL in this young season.

The Alpena IceDiggers return to Northern Lights Arena this Friday and Saturday to play host to the Mahoning Valley Phantoms (6-7-1). Face off is set for 7:00PM both night's.
