Indiana Blast News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-The Blast officially announced today that they have come to terms with Indiana born star Jamar Beasley. Beasley was transferred from the Charleston Battery to the Blast on Wednesday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Beasley signed with the Battery in mid-March, before the 2003 season began.

Beasley began his professional career in 1998 with the New England Revolution. He spent three years with the Revolution chalking up three goals, and adding five assists in 41 matches. In 2001 Beasley was traded to the Chicago Fire, notching four goals and three assists in 18 games played.

Before traveling to Charleston, Beasley spent time with the Italian Serie "C" side, Puteolana. Beasley spent his first four professional seasons in the MLS and at the time was the youngest player to play in the MLS.

Born in Ft. Wayne, IN, Beasley is a former member of the U20 United States National Team, appearing at the 1999 Youth World Championship in Nigeria. Beasley spent the 1998 off-season training with legendary Italian power AC Milan.

Beasley will be suited up and ready to play for tomorrow night's match against the Cincinnati Riverhawks. The match will kick off at 7:35pm at Kuntz Stadium. The Blast have announced that it is "High School and College Night" and are offering 2-4-1 admission for students with a high school or college ID. Adult admission is $9 and anybody under the age of 18 is $5.

Students can bring their grade reports for a chance to participate in the "Roll in the Dough" contest. For every "A" on their grade report, each student gets an entry into the contest. Two students will be randomly drawn and will have the chance to roll in the dough and take home the cash.

In what has been coined the Border Battle Cup, the Blast will play Cincinnati for the second time in 2003, the first at Kuntz Stadium. In their last meeting in Cincinnati, the Blast were beaten 3-0 and warranted some immediate personnel changes. When the Riverhawks come to Kuntz Stadium this Friday evening, the newly revamped Blast will be ready for revenge and will look for a 1-1 series tie with four games to go in the Border Battle Cup.
